Born and raised in the deserts of Algeria, Sh. Bashīr began his studies according to the rigorous Saharan learning method of committing complete texts to memory and reading them to scholars.
He has studied various Arabic and Qur’ānic sciences, as well as Islamic jurisprudence extensively. His teachers include:
-Sh. Sīdī Lhāj Muhammad al-Bakkārī
-Sh. Sīdī Sa`īd Qādhī al-Sharwīnī
-Sh. `Abd al-Hādī al-Kharsah, etc.
He has formal authorization [ijāzah] to transmit the Qur’ān, according to the reading of Nāfi` and `Āşim, as well as works of hadīth and other sciences.
